Daymarelys Rodriguez
Exactly one year after being added to the transplant list for a new heart and liver, Daymarelys received her second chance at life. While eating breakfast in her hospital room, she received the life-changing call.
Now, two years later, she lives her life to the fullest, celebrating every birthday party and holiday she can. Daymarelys says, “My advice for those who are waiting is to never lose faith, even when there are times that you feel like you can’t go on. Rest and then get up and push yourself. You will see, day by day, it will get better and easier to do things that you used to do before.”
Daymarelys received her life-saving transplant at @Penn Medicine and now advocates for organ and tissue donation, volunteering with @LifeLink Florida in Tampa. . She is also a part of a transplant group where recipients can connect, give helpful tips, and cheer each other on when someone is in need.
“I am blessed with a second chance at living. I have my family and friends with me and I enjoy every day like it’s the best day of my life.”
