CEU eLearning Course for PA Educators
The course provides educators with the knowledge, confidence and instructional tools to teach one of today’s most important public health topics. Participants will learn to:
- Develop lesson plans on organ and tissue donation and transplantation for grades 9-12.
- Access downloadable classroom activities and educational resources.
- Facilitate informed classroom discussions.
- Explain the need for organ donors and the impact of the national transplant waiting list.
- Address common myths and misconceptions about donation.
- Differentiate between living and deceased donation.
- Describe the science of organ and tissue donation and transplantation, including advances in transplantation medicine and current medical practices.
Youth Education Program
Gift of Life Donor Program and Center for Organ Recovery & Donation (CORE) work with high schools and colleges to educate students about organ and tissue donation. Programs offer a variety of ways for teachers and students to share information, including guest speakers, workshops, volunteer opportunities and other educational materials.
Organ Tissue Donation Awareness Project
The mission of the Organ Tissue Donation Awareness Project (OTDA) is to educate Pennsylvania secondary school students about organ and tissue donation. OTDA offers teachers a step-by-step toolkit to provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills needed to understand the donation process.
