Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are listed below. If you would like to get involved by volunteering with one of Pennsylvania’s organ procurement organizations (OPOs), you can find your local OPO on this map. The Center for Organ Recovery & Education serves counties shown in green and the Gift of Life Donor Program serves the counties in blue.
Center for Organ Recovery & Education
Whether you are an organ donor, a donor family member, a transplant recipient, or you just want to help educate others about the need for organ donation, CORE is looking for volunteers to help get the word out.
Gift of Life Volunteer and Support Groups
Gift of Life Donor Program includes a number of volunteer and support groups that help educate people about the critical need for organ and tissue donors in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. The program also works with and supports several regional volunteer groups.
PA Donate Life Hospital Challenge
This challenge encourages Pennsylvania hospitals to increase organ and tissue donation awareness as well as designations. The awareness and designation activities are captured on a scorecard for participating hospitals to achieve platinum, gold, silver and bronze level point totals.
Pennsylvania Community Health Center Challenge
The Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers annually partners with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, CORE and Gift of Life Donor Program to support the annual Pennsylvania Community Health Center Challenge. This challenge encourages Pennsylvania community health centers to increase organ donation awareness and designations within their health center and community.
College Outreach
Is your college or university interested in partnering with a nonprofit? If so, look no further than Donate Life Pennsylvania. The opportunities are limitless. Contact your respective organ procurement organization to get started.
Each year, CORE and Gift of Life hold two challenges for Pennsylvania schools to not only spread organ donor awareness, but also register students, faculty and staff on campus as organ donors.
Gift of Life Howie’s House
Gift of Life Howie’s House serves as a “home away from home” for transplant patients and their families by providing temporary, affordable lodging and supportive services to those who travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for transplant-related care. Gift of Life Howie’s House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization.
