As a newborn, Jade Moeller faced the fight of her life after doctors diagnosed her with Biliary Atresia, a rare liver disorder. With her mother’s bravery, and the gift of living organ donation, Jade was able to experience a second chance at life.

In 2014, soon after Jade was born, her health began to deteriorate. After learning that living donation was an option for those in need of a liver transplant, Jade’s parents, Tim and Julia, were tested. Julia was a match.

“Going into surgery, I wasn’t even scared. I knew this was what I had to do”, she said.

Two days after surgery, the Moeller family saw Jade’s health rapidly improving, and the yellow tint that covered her skin and eyes was gone.

Today, Jade is a healthy, resilient child. She is strong and thriving today because of her mother’s organ donation.

“She is the most amazing little girl,” said Julia. “I don’t feel like I did something special. Helping her was something that I had to do. She’s my baby and it’s what a mom does.”
