Izzie Christenson
A spunky, smart, feisty, caring, and thoughtful child, Izzie Chirstenson approached each day with a positive attitude and displayed a never give up spirit that naturally drew people to her. During her short life, Izzie required two transplants. In 2004, when she was only six-years-old, she received a stomach, liver, small bowels duodenum, and pancreas. In 2006, she had a kidney transplant. Her transplants were her “gift of life” and even at such a young age, she was a strong advocate for the importance of organ donation because she was always looking out for others. Sadly, Izzie passed away at age 10. To help fulfill Izzie’s hopes and dreams, the Izzie’s Gifts of Hope Foundation was established.
Throughout her short life, Izzie lived each day with positivity, despite being required to undergo two transplants. Now, in Izzie’s honor, Izzie’s Gifts of Hope Foundation funds the Isabelle Christenson Memorial Scholarship – awarded to an individual or family member of someone directly impacted by organ donation, including transplant candidates, recipients and donor family members.
